      ab: The article reports that a team of Princeton University scientists, led by professor Andrew Appel, are dissecting e-voting machines to determine how tamper-proof they are. The machines, which were purchased from election officials in North Carolina, required no non-disclosure agreement. Appel has already found that they are extremely easy to open, and that embedded ROM chips can be replaced in a short amount of time through an opening on the back. Even though these machines are extremely easy to reprogram, they are still far more secure than Diebold voting machines currently in use.
