Sumario:This article explores efforts to use imaging technologies in creating brain-based lie detectors. The history of polygraph use in the American courtroom is discussed, along with how functional magnetic resonance imaging machines (fMRI) have been traditionally used. Results of the experiments conducted by undergraduate students at the University of Pennsylvania regarding the use of fMRI as a lie detector are given. Information is presented on objections to the use of fMRI in the courtroom.
