| Summary: | This article focuses on the digital image and its manipulation as possible semiotic marker of an algorithmic expression or computational process. It examines the relationship between the digital image, indexicality and the computer programs. It is argued that the development of an understanding of the computer program's modes of meaningful expression is needed when the images that have been perceived become imbricated with the digital. Several effects of digitization on the concept of indexicality are also discussed. |
