The author explains that the basic components of digital technology are normally binary digits, or "bits," represented by the values zero and one. He goes on to explain how data is stored in blocks and identified by a unique "address" in the computer, to explain address or logical arithmetic, and to define terms such as byte, nibble, and hexadecimal digits.
