The author presents several issues concerning standards and contends that engineering standards are necessary. The author discusses complaints against the use of standards, arguments in support of standards, the difficulty in harmonizing technologies manufactured by different companies to one or a set of standards, and the solution of standards blending with various technologies in light of the difficulty of standards harmonization.
