Sumario:The article presents the author's opinions on the reasons behind computer software failures in society. A discussion of several computer software failures that the author discovered and or fixed is presented. The impact the failures have had and continue to have on many segments of society, including the automobile industry, is discussed. Arguments are presented which suggest that evidence shows that most computer software failures and disasters afflicting society in 2007 could have been avoided by using techniques that the creators of the software already know, and that the failures affect everyone and should not be ignored.
