Sumario:The article profiles primatologist Brian Hare, who investigates the social behavior of chimpanzees and bonobos in Africa. A discussion of Hare's early interest in primatology, work at Emory University's Yerkes National Primate Research Center in Atlanta, Georgia with Michael Tomasello and with the Institute of Cytology and Genetics near Novosibirsk, Russia, is presented. Hare's interest in the behavior of dogs and foxes, and the lessons he has learned about chimp behavior from his research, is discussed.
