The analysis is made referring to memory texts such as the photograph depicting the lifeless body of student protestor, Hector Pieterson, the rehearsal of the events of the uprising by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the Hector Petersen Museum, and the commemoration of June 16th as Youth Day by the government of South Africa. It is stated that such memory texts serve to connect private with public life and personal with social memory.
