| Summary: | The article discusses information technology (IT) projects in the public service sector. Such projects frequently fail to live up to expectations, resulting in misspent tax dollars, skepticism, and public dissatisfaction. Inadequate IT training for public managers is an issue, but more needs to be done. Isolated applications need to give way to interoperable ones that can share data. Using principles of business process reengineering as a guide, public administration functions need to be reorganized. |
