Sumario:Publication of the 17th Annual Southern Conference proceedings is the fourth volume in an ongoing publication series of the Israel Antiquities Authority, Southern district in cooperation with the Department of Bible, Archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at Ben Gurion University of the Negev. The present book contains thirteen scientifically peer-reviewed articles, four in English, nine in Hebrew, that have been presented at the conference in March of 2021. The articles include various aspects concerning the agricultural hinterland of the northern Negev during the Byzantine and Islamic periods, the uses of subterranean spaces in southern Israel from the Chalcolithic to the Byzantine periods, and initial publication of ongoing research projects and recent excavations of interest conducted in southern Israel and the Judean desert.
