Summary:The article explores Eleatic monism, descended from a tradition endorsed by the philosopher Parmenides of Elea, and its place in contemporary metaphysics. Extensionism, exclusivism, eternalism, and the plenum principle are discussed. The counterintuitive nature of Eleatic monism is examined. The author argues that while the philosophy of Eleatic monists may not be plausible, it is neither absurd nor unintelligible.
