Sumario:A chapter from the book "Enrico Annibale Butti: The Predicament of the Minor Writer" is presented. It discusses the use of literary sources by Butti. He made extensive review of the works of Henrik Ibsen and Gabriele D'Annunzio. Abroad, his fascination for the metaphysical and the spiritual led him to familiarize himself with the works of Edgar Alan Poe. In 1894 Butti published his "L'Anima" which signifies his literary relationship with the aforesaid writers but at the same time shows his attempts to define himself as an artist.
