Sumario:A chapter from the book "Enrico Annibale Butti: The Predicament of the Minor Writer" is presented. While Butti, in his other works, rewrites the text in order to present a moral issue for discussion, "Il Castello," on the other hand, draws on several widely dissimilar sources. Direct citations from authors such as William Shakespeare, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and Edgar Allan Poe are made. According to the chapter, "Il Castello" is practically composed of direct references and citations. The repeated use of literary references is examined.
