Sumario:Chapter 4 of Part I of the book "They Built Utopia: The Jesuit Missions in Paraguay 1610-1768" is presented. It tells about the enemies of the Jesuit missions in Paraguay including the so-called bandeirantes, the slave hunters from Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1629, around four hundred heavily armed men with two thousand of their Tupi Indians attacked the reduction of San Antonio, followed by San Miguel and Jesús María.
