Sumario:Chapter 2 of the book "Textual History & the Divine Comedy" is presented. It examines the supposed misstatements in "Inferno XX" and "Purgatorio XXI," which are references to other texts in the epic poem "Commedia," by Dante Alighieri. According to the chapter, the purpose of such misreadings can be revealed when the poem is seen as a text that looks back to the events of literary history. Here, Dante creates an analogy between the act of writing and the act of personal conversion in which man must also look back.
