The translation is considered a powerful act that uplifts the Mapuche people, and their language and traditions. Chihuailaf, who has published poems and hosted literary conferences, highlighted Neruda's perspectives on the inequalities in Chile and the social conditions of Mapuche on the selection. Chihuailaf believes that the translation may serve as a bridge between the Mapuche and Chileans for the preservation of both cultures and the appreciation of the diversity in Chile.
