ab: The article presents the principal statistical series collected and calculated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the U.S. Seasonal adjustments are applied when certain monthly and quarterly data are needed to be adjusted to eliminate the effect on the data of such factors as climatic conditions, industry production schedule and opening and closing of schools. Some data are also adjusted to eliminate the effect of changes in price. Moreover, the civilian labor force consists of all employed or unemployed persons in the civilian noninstitutional population.
