(IEEE) 802.11s standards, which build on IEEE 802.11, for peer-to-peer communications systems. The author reports that wireless communications technology company PacketHop Inc. has developed software and firmware that use the IEEE 802.11s standards to integrate communication between computers in a network. The article notes that this allows a string of computers to connect to a wireless network if only one of the computers in that string has clear access to that network. This product will join proprietary systems developed by companies such as Firetide and Strix which are marketed to organizations whose wireless network does not require interoperability.
