| Sumario: | The article discusses the contribution of Charles Sanders Peirce on the development of American Cryptography. It references the two undated manuscripts authored by Peirce, wherein he described in detail a machine that could automatically encrypt and decrypt messages using arithmetical transformations and binary notations and a letter wherein Pierce claimed that he could build such machine. A discussion on the relationship between the letter and the two manuscripts is also presented. Moreover, it examines, based on the manuscripts and the letter, whether Peirce could have built the machine he described considering that he seem to have the necessary knowledge to build it.
