| Sumario: | A biography of Henryk Sienkiewicz, the first Polish writer to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, is presented. He was born on May 5, 1846 at Wola Okrzejska at the time when Poland was occupied by Russia. He studied at the University of Warsaw where he took up literature, history and philology. He didn't finish his education, but he began writing articles and novels which were recognized by literary critics. His works include "Yanko the Musician", "The Lighthouse-Keeper", and "Quo Vadis?". |
