Sumario:Chapter I of the book "Light Imagery in the Spanish Ballad," by Patricia Pogal is presented. It focuses on the generic unity of the "Romancero tradicional" and the role of light imagery in Spanish ballad. It highlights on the "romance's" imagery of light as an addition to the salient "romance" features enumerated by Menéndez Pidal. The traditional style, the comparison of two ancient and one modern version of the "La Adultera", and the discontinuity in English balladry is also presented.
