The article approaches the countertransferencial aspects of caretakers and volunteers who work with people living with HIV or aids. In a first moment, we establish the bonds between the countertransferencial reactions and the emotions that raise themes linked to disease and death, to involvement and loss, as well as to the caretakers' personal image. Then we discuss the active factors present in the relationship, as well as the motivations and the frame of action, the age and the experience level. The concern with the service quality and with the caretakers' well being leads us to suggest important action elements in the domain of Psychology, regarding the understanding of the anxieties linked to aids.
