Sumario:The author observes that the invocation and benediction prayers by Bishop William R. Cannon of Atlanta, Georgia and John R. Roach, the Catholic Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, for U.S. President Jimmy Carter's inaugural ceremony fit together thematically and psychologically. The author says that Bishop Cannon's prayer recalls certain failures of the U.S. The author also views that the hopes expressed by Archbishop Roach were similar to that set forth by Bishop Cannon's.
