| Sumario: | This article discusses the work of Convey Computer Corp., which has developed a supercomputer system that features a standard programming environment. This system, called the HC-1 supercomputer, is intended to improve the availability of flexible supercomputing options in science and engineering. The use of microprocessors, field programmable gate arrays, Linux, and an Open64 compiler in this machine is described. The support for Convey by computer chip companies including Xilinx and Intel Corp. is described. |
