Sumario:The article discusses a ten-session, pass/fail freshman seminar course offered at the University of California, Santa Barbara and aimed at motivating students to study computer engineering. Each session includes presentation, discussion, and possible solution strategies for a chosen topic. Cryptography, binary search, and task scheduling are three of the ten subjects treated in the curriculum. A Website is maintained at which students can access all course materials including handouts and lecture slides. Two sample lectures are described.
