Sumario:The article reports on the development of ultrafast electron diffraction (UED) in the U.S. It states that the aim of the development of UED is to study structural dynamics in isolated molecules in the gas phase with combined spatial and temporal resolutions. It is discussed that the power of UED is the ability to determine structures and, when time-resolved, provide those of excited states and dark structures.
