Sumario:The article discusses techniques which reduce the energy usage and heat emissions associated with information technology. The ability for environmentally-conscious practices to minimize the secondary electricity costs associated with the need for additional cooling power is noted, mentioning that the replacement of aging equipment is an effective way to ensure the most efficient and power-conscious hardware is in usage. The various methods by which energy efficiency data is measured for data centers, servers, and personal computers (PCs) are also discussed.
