Sumario:Rapid advances in our understanding of the etiopathogenesis of the inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and how best to treat them, call for a substantial revision and update of ‘Fast Facts: Inflammatory Bowel Disease'. In this new seventh edition, we explore advances in microbiome science which have linked specific microbes with different stages of disease. We discuss current thinking on how best to use immunomodulatory and biological drugs, alone or in combination, along with newly introduced and imminent therapies. This book is aimed at non-specialist doctors (particularly primary care providers and hospital doctors in training), nurses, stoma therapists, dietitians, psychologists, counselors, social workers, and other professionals involved in the care of patients with IBD.
