| Sumario: | In this article the author evaluates the influence exerted by the Internet on democracy and democratic movements. He asserts that organizations and government institutions engaged in the promotion of global democracy have oversimplified the role that the Internet plays in spreading the political doctrine. A major focus of the article is that the same features that make the Internet a positive tool for advancing democratic causes also aid in the dissemination of philosophies and beliefs that are antidemocratic and opposed to the creation of civil societies. |
