| Sumario: | The article focuses on females models of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, including poet Christina Rossetti, painter and poet Elizabeth Siddall, Arts and Crafts Movement artisan Jane Morris, sculptor Maria Zambaco, and painter Marie Stillman, nee Spartali. The author explores how these woman were objectified as pale, wan, romanticized Victorian ideals of beauty. However, in their own works they created an alternate view of themselves as women. A comparison of the women's poetry and art with the works of painters Sir John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti is presented. |
