ab: The article discusses a study on the impact of the developmental programs and policy reforms imposed by the Chinese government on rural areas in the northwest region. Measures have been taken by the government to make the development in Western provinces closer to that of the wealthier regions. Results show that the area intended for reforestation programs serves as a statistically significant variable in assessing income. It is concluded that growth resulting from the government programs have different effects on the people living in the rural areas.
