The key to interpreting in Gen 10:9 lies not so much in, but, which posits a relation between Nimrod and YHWH that expresses the superlative with regard to the strength of Nimrod's abilities. Connections between Gen 10:8-12 and 11:1-9 reinforce a negative assessment of Nimrod's character.
