Sumario:A reprint of the article "After Losing Users in Catalogs, Libraries Find Better Search Software," by Marc Perry, which was published in the October 2, 2009 issue of "The Chronicle of Higher Education," is presented. The article discusses improvements to online library catalogs of universities through the use of filtering software and open-source programs intended to enhance relevance ranking of search results. The frustration of library users with library search systems is noted.
