Summary:	In this article the author discusses the significance of patronage in the study of the New Testament in the scriptures. He points that in the patronage aspect, it is important to realize the classical and socio-logical forms and that both forms are different from each other. He mentions that problems of criticism and the implications that patronage was a universal occurrence in the ancient Mediterranean are the focal subject that needs concentration. He further notes that the answer to the question whether social-scientists have been responsible in overstating the legality of reading patronage into cultures and texts that might actually be alien to the process of patronage should be figured out.
