| Sumario: | The article discusses holiness and harlotry in Judeo-Christian scriptures focusing on Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and Bathsheba, the four women who have violated social/sexual conventions. The narratives of the four women highlight the moral and hermeneutical complexities brought about by their violation of biblical norms of morality. It is noted that Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and Bathsheba retain a special status within the Bible as they directly relate to the genealogy of David/Messiah lineage. |
