      ab: Law enforcement agencies are increasingly using new, high-technology weapons such as computers and digital imaging systems to deal with crime. The use of imaging technology in law enforcement is a relatively new concept that has created considerable interest. Imaging technology became widely available for law enforcement three years ago with the introduction of higher quality digital cameras and photo compact disc technology. The necessary components of a basic imaging system, depending on application, are standard PCs or Macintosh computers, a printer, special software packages, standard cameras, digital cameras, and other peripherals. The total cost of a fully-configured system could be about $95,000, although experts predict that better products at lower prices will be available in the next few years.
