| Sumario: | Part of a special issue on the public domain. The articles in this special issue originated at a November 2001 conference at the Duke University School of Law. The conference brought together scientists, historians, environmental systems scholars, artists, lawyers, software engineers, filmmakers, musicians, and archivists to discuss issue relating to the public domain. The conference included panels on the history and theory of the public domain and a “state of the public domain” report in the digital realm, culture, and science.
