      ab: The article discusses the advances in computer applications that have changed how astronomers study the universe. The computer simulations of galaxy interactions and numerical programs conducted and designed by astronomer Alar Toomre and his brother Jüri in the early 1970s are explored. The growth in computing power helped astronomer Fabio Governato's to determine that supernova explosions in the core of a dwarf galaxy generate winds that sweep gas away from the center preventing stars from forming. How computers helped astronomers to model a planet detected on the Convection Rotation and Planetary Transits mission called COROT-7b is discussed.
