| Sumario: | The Year 2000 (Y2K) computer problem and a number of related factors may prompt a global economic decline. The Y2K problem refers to the decades-old practice in computer programs of assuming a year's first two digits are “19” and using only the last two digits to denote the year. This means that the year 2000 will be read as 1900, causing computer chaos. The problem is unlikely to be resolved in time to prevent a major shock to the world economy. |
