Sumario:Future universities will flourish if they exploit the community-building opportunities established by the Internet and the World Wide Web. Many traditional colleges and universities will not survive the transition from a factory approach to education to client-specific services. The institutions that do survive will capitalize fully on the information technologies. Colleges and universities must decide now to implement the Webcentric philosophy if they are to gain strategic advantage. The writer outlines an possible scenario showing how a Webcentric university might function.
