Sumario:The high demand for individuals' personal information means a new profession may emerge to help manage it. Future “personal information network managers” will probably emerge from other industries with abundant personal-information resources and management expertise that is already considered to be trustworthy, such as banks and credit unions. Alternatively, a major credit card company may establish a comprehensive personal information (PI) management service. PI managers' biggest competitive task will be to combine comprehensive management services in simple, easy-to-understand offerings. The potential benefits of enhancing the management of everyone's personal information assets include advancing medical research, protecting personal health, developing new marketing strategies, and combating terrorism.
