| Sumario: | The foreign policy of President Obama can be judged most usefully in two parts: first, his objectives and decision-making system and, second, his policies and their implementation. Although the former can be spoken about with confidence, the latter remains an unfolding process. To his credit, Obama has undertaken a genuinely ambitious effort to redefine the United States' view of the world and to reconnect the United States with the emerging historical context of the current century. He has achieved this with remarkable success. In less than one year, Obama has comprehensively reconceptualized U.S. foreign policy with respect to a number of centrally important geopolitical issues. The writer discusses these issues and assesses Obama's foreign policy. |
