| Sumario: | A study was conducted to assess the extent to which problems within marriage spill over to produce work loss. Results indicate that a distressed marital relationship is positively associated with work loss, especially among men in the first decade of marriage. Based on the average earnings of subjects in the study, work loss associated with marital problems translates into a loss of about $6.8 billion per year. These results suggest that family interventions aimed at the prevention of marital problems may lead to significant psychosocial and economic benefits for business and society. |
