| Sumario: | A study was carried out in Pakistan to determine whether gender differences in handwriting may be as or more detectable in Urdu than in English. Findings indicated that inferences about gender were made correctly and reliably in both Urdu and English, and levels of accuracy (about 68 percent) were similar to those found in studies of handwriting in English. Judged gender of handwriting proved to be significantly stable for the two languages. It is concluded that these findings are relevant for the investigation of gender roles and gender stereotyping in assessment. |
