| Sumario: | A study was conducted on a national basis among city managers and chief administration officers to investigate perceptions of trust in local government. It was found that cynicism is present in approximately one-third of all cities with populations of more than 50,000 and that around one-quarter of these have widespread, “ardently” cynical views. In addition, it was found that cities that promote positive citizen attitudes through various strategies of participation, information, and reputation witness less cynicism than cities that do not. |
