Sumario:A profile of James L. McClelland and David E. Rumelhart, who were among the recipients of the 1996 American Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions, is provided. McClelland and Rumelhart received the award in recognition of their imaginative conception of a comprehensive architecture for cognition theories that are based on parallel processing of distributed memories. McClelland and Rumelhart's collaborative work is discussed.
