      ab: A study was conducted to develop and examine the psychometric properties of the Mathematics Information Processing Scale (MIPS). The MIPS was developed to examine learning strategies for statistics content, metacognitive problem-solving skills, and attentional deployment in evaluative contexts. To examine its psychometric properties, 340 students completed the MIPS and other measures of statistics anxiety, attitudes toward statistics, and student learning approaches. Results of a factor analysis identified five theoretically meaningful MIPS dimensions of Metacognitive Problem Solving, Deep-Associative Study, Surface-Disintegrated Study, Performance Preoccupation, and Strategic Study.
