The most widely spoken language in the world is English—approximately 20 to 25 percent of the world's 6 billion people are able to use it—and it is spreading further each year. The growth in the film and television industries has spread the use of English, and business also encourages English usage as it diffuses globally. The computer and its American operating systems have given English a further boost, while on the Internet, the winner will again be English. |
