      ab: A path analysis of longitudinal data gathered from 600 undergraduate management information systems students was conducted to test a model of the cognitive, motivational, and affective processes affecting computer-related performance. It is found that almost all of the predicted paths were at least partially supported, implying that the model offers a reasonable first approximation of the major antecedents and consequences of computer-related performance. Furthermore, it is argued that, by and large, the relationships between attributional style, self-efficacy, effort, performance, mood, and subsequent performance expectations are very consistent with the predictions presented in previous attributional models of motivation and learned helplessness. Finally, the theoretical and practical implications are considered.
