Sumario:Part of a special section on confidence intervals for effect sizes. The writers present an introduction to a computer package written for Mathematica software. They note that the package is intended to perform a number of difficult iterative functions with regard to the squared multiple correlation coefficient under the fixed and random models. They point out that these functions include the computation of confidence interval upper and lower bounds; power calculation; the calculation of sample size needed for a specified power level; and the provision of estimates of shrinkage in cross validating the squared multiple correlation under both the random and fixed models. They highlight some of the technical issues associated with selecting and working with these two types of models as well as to issues relating to the constructing of confidence intervals.
